Hyejin Lee. MDes
Hyejin Lee is the Founder and CEO at THE MEME, a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based firm that helps companies generate and design new product and service strategies by conducting rigorous qualitative research. Clients include, Microsoft, Samsung, LG, iRobot, Global Oncology, Boston Children’s Hospital and many others. She is also the Co-Founder of Organic Parking, a mobile app that allows users to exchange information about public or private parking spaces to help facilitate a better city driving and parking experience.
Hyejin has over 20 years of professional and academic experience in various design disciplines. Prior to founding THE MEME, she worked for CHEIL Worldwide and other innovation-centric firms which allowed her to acquire high-end and cutting edge design experiences. Hyejin has also served as the Design Director at INVIVIA, a design and technology research lab that helps clients develop solutions by creating innovative idea spaces and objects.
Hyejin has extensive teaching experience. She has taught in Seoul National University’s design department as a visiting professor and has also held teaching positions at Kookmin University, Yonsei University and Seoul National University of Technology. She has also taught at Startup Alliance and Seoul National University in Korea as well as Tongji University, Tsinghua University and Cheng Kong Graduate School of Business in China. She was appointed as a Global Leader Mentor of the Korean Innovation Center from the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning. Her speaking engagements include both the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Hyejin holds a Master of Design Studies degree with a focus in digital media and production environments from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design from Seoul National University. She began her career at Seoul Art High School where she first followed her passion for design.
